About Teddy goat
Teddy goat is a fast growing bred in Pakistan as farming business in Following Districts of Punajab Layya, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sargodha Mianwali, Khushab now a days . Teddy goats are import to Pakistan from Chitagang, Bangladesh in 1950. Teddy goats are highly familiar with the weather conditions of Pakistan.
History of teddy Goats
Since 1950 they have been exported to Pakistan. It is bred for both only pure meat purposes. Milk production is very low up to 0.4 litter per day . The name of teddy derived from the teddy bear due to low height. This breed is one of the associates of the Saanen goat (French: ‘Chèvre de Gessenay’) bred.
Physical characteristics of teddy Goat
There is a large variation in color but the typical Off white, Cream, Light black, black and pure white with patches of tan on the neck and head. A Teddy goat male can weigh up to 42 kg, while females can reach around 36 kg. Low height Upto 106.68 centimeter only . Hair of Teddy breed is generally not clipped. The regular lactation yield per day has been found to be vaguely less than 1 kilogram.
Behavior Of teddy Goats
During the winter they spend more than 97% of their time grazing, although this falls to around 70% in the hot Pakistani summer. Rates of conception are very high and Twins and triplets babies occur most common. The average age of first conception is 15 months. Teddy breed is both horned and polled.
